Skweejee Privacy Policy

The Skweejee app collects no personal data, has no accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, and no ads. Your files are processed locally and are never uploaded. The app makes exactly one kind of network request, and only when you explicitly ask it to (downloading FFmpeg). The only information we ever receive is what you deliberately send us, such as a bug report submitted from our website. This website counts page views without cookies, described under “Website analytics” below.

Files you compress with Skweejee are read and written locally on your device. They are never transmitted to us or to any third party. Skweejee only accesses files you explicitly choose through file dialogs, drag-and-drop, Explorer's right-click menu, or watch folders you configure.

Skweejee keeps some information locally in its application data folder, solely so the app can function:

• Settings and preferences — your chosen compression options, theme, window layout, and watch-folder configuration.
• Log files — a daily record of what the app did, including the names and paths of files it processed and details of any errors. Logs are kept for 14 days, then deleted automatically. If you ever bundle them up to send us, the file names are redacted first.
• Crash reports — technical details written when the app encounters a serious error.
• Savings statistics — running totals of how much disk space compression has saved you.

All of this stays on your device. None of it is sent anywhere automatically. Uninstalling the app removes it.

If you contact us about a problem, you can use Help → Troubleshooting → Save diagnostics to create a zip file containing recent logs, any crash reports, and a technical summary of your system (Windows version, app version, FFmpeg build, available encoders). This file is saved where you choose and is shared only if you decide to send it to us. Personal information and the names of files the app processed are redacted as the zip is written, so it does not reveal your folder structure or what you were working on. If you email us a diagnostics bundle, we use it only to troubleshoot your issue and do not share it with anyone else.

Skweejee makes one kind of network connection, and only at your explicit request: if you choose to download FFmpeg (an optional, separately licensed video-processing tool), the app fetches an official build from its publisher's release server on GitHub and verifies it before use. As with any internet download, the server involved (GitHub) sees standard connection metadata such as your IP address, governed by GitHub's privacy policy.

That's it. The app performs no update checks (updates come through the Microsoft Store), no license or activation calls, and no background communication of any kind.

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to other websites. What it records is the page you viewed, the referring site, and coarse technical details such as country and browser family — never anything that identifies you personally.

If your browser or an extension blocks the beacon, the site works exactly the same. We use these numbers only to see which pages people find useful.

The Skweejee app itself contains no analytics of any kind. This applies to the website only.

The bug report form is the one place where we deliberately collect information, because you cannot report a bug without telling us something. When you submit it, we receive your email address, your name if you give one, everything you typed, any files you attached, and your IP address and browser user-agent string.

• The report is delivered to our support inbox by Resend, our email provider. It is not written to a database or stored on this website.
• Files you attach travel with that email as attachments. They are not uploaded to any storage service, and there is no link to leak.
• Your IP address and user-agent are included so we can recognise abuse. Your IP is also counted against a submission limit; that counter holds no other data and expires on its own.
• The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are a person rather than a bot. Turnstile sets no cookies and does not track you across websites.

We use what you send only to investigate and fix the bug, and we share it with no one else. Diagnostics zips are redacted before they leave your machine, with personal information and file names stripped out. Screenshots are not redacted, since they capture whatever was on screen, so it is worth a glance before you attach one.

Skweejee is free. There is nothing to buy, and the app contains no in-app purchases, licences, or paid tiers.

If you choose to support the app through our Ko-fi page, that happens entirely on Ko-fi's website, outside the app. Ko-fi and the payment providers it uses (such as PayPal and Stripe) handle the transaction and whatever details you give them, under Ko-fi's privacy policy. We never receive your payment information. Donating is voluntary, is never required to use any part of Skweejee, and unlocks nothing — the app has no accounts or entitlements to attach a donation to.

Installing Skweejee involves your Microsoft Store account, which is handled entirely by Microsoft under Microsoft's privacy statement.

Skweejee is not directed at children and, in any case, collects no data from anyone.

If we ever change what data the app handles, we will update this policy and note the new effective date here. Because the app sends nothing to us, any meaningful change would come with an app update through the Microsoft Store.
